Hello, I’m Kennedy.

Hi there! My name is Kennedy D. Walters, and the D. stands for Darcus. I go by the pseudonym “darcuslove,” which combines my middle name (my paternal grandmother’s name) with my maternal grandfather's name (Love).

I am a Detroit native, a 2x Spartan graduate, a lover of words, art and so much more. However, my passion lies in health communications and transforming complex information into meaningful digital experiences.

Through my work, I love to connect people with the information they need through strategic content, websites, digital communications and audience-centered storytelling. Whether developing website experiences, managing digital communications, translating healthcare policy or creating content for healthcare leaders, I enjoy bridging the gap between expertise and understanding.

At the heart of my work is a personal philosophy: Artist in Every Endeavor.

I believe creativity extends far beyond traditional art forms. Every project, website, publication and communication strategy presents an opportunity to create something thoughtful, intentional and impactful.

For me, communication is both a science and an art. It requires curiosity, empathy, strategy and creativity to meet audiences where they are and help them engage with information in meaningful ways.

Why Health Communication?

What first drew me to health communications and what continues to motivate me today is a fascination with the relationship between communication, perception and human behavior.

As a journalist turned health communication professional, I became increasingly interested in how people process information, make decisions and engage with systems that affect their health and well-being. That interest led me to earn a Master of Arts in Health and Risk Communication from Michigan State University and continues to shape my work today.

I am especially passionate about supporting the healthcare professionals and organizations working to improve the lives of others through clear, accessible and effective communication.

Beyond the Resume

When I’m not working, you’ll likely find me:

  • Over caffeinated

  • indulging in a side quest of some sort… (maybe I CAN jump rope for ten minutes straight?)

  • Reading or partaking in the hobby of buying books (and not reading my extensive to-be-read pile)

  • Supporting community organizations

  • Spending time with my partner, Jordan, and our corgi, Kolby Jack

  • Finding new ways to blend creativity, communication and technology

  • Possibly finding a new niche and hobby that will become my identity for the next four weeks

Because at the end of the day, I believe there is an artist in every endeavor.
